Bar closes nest: every hour close is also a 30-, 15- and 5-minute close. Only the longest bar sounds at a shared boundary, so the top of the hour rings once. The 5-minute tick countdown always runs.

Apply the measured offset

—

Measured against Cloudflare and Akamai, using the round-trip midpoint so network latency cancels out. Both must agree before anything is reported. Re-checked every 30 minutes and after the machine wakes. Applying the offset stays off by default — if your clock is wrong you should know, rather than have it silently patched under you.
